InfoMetrics: Informative Metrics for a Better Understanding of Mental Health

Lundbeck Foundation Fellow 2021: Oleguer Plana-Ripoll, senior researcher, National Centre for Register-based Research, Aarhus University.

Implications of mental illness

It is a well-known fact that psychological disorders have a devastating impact on sufferers, and they affect patients in a wide range of areas. However, we still lack methods for more specific analysis of the implications of mental illness.

Oleguer Plana-Ripoll – 35, senior researcher at the National Centre for Register-based Research, Aarhus University – will use his Lundbeck Foundation Fellowship to establish a research group that will seek to develop new methods for exploring these implications.

The methods will be able to β€œchew through” and analyse huge volumes of information, extracted, for example, from health data. And, according to Oleguer Plana-Ripoll, there is an urgent need for methods of this kind, to give us a better understanding of the true scope of the implications of mental illness.

During the course of the project, Oleguer Plana-Ripoll and his colleagues will map these implications with respect to educational patterns, labour market affiliation, general public health and premature death.

Oleguer Plana-Ripoll is receiving a grant worth DKK 10 million.
