Enabling Treatment for All Stages of Age-related Macular Degeneration by Anchoring Drugs in the Eye
Andreas Lodberg, postdoc, Department of Biomedicine, Aarhus University, has been awarded a Lundbeck Foundation LF Experiments research grant worth DKK 2,000,000.
A novel platform called BioAnchor allows for localized treatment in the eye by fixating therapeutics to common βbuilding blocksβ found in the eye. In this project, the BioAnchor platform will be applied in a mouse model of severe Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD). The hypothesis is that the BioAnchor platform will provide a more intense and long-lasting therapeutic effect that will prevent disease progression in all stages of AMD.
